Birth Doula Workshop and Intro to Childbirth Education for Doulas

Why should you take a workshop from us?

We are in St. Louis. Following the workshop we provide continuing support for you and your doula career. If you have a question, concern, or something to cheer about, we're here for you!

We are familiar with the St. Louis birth scene. We are frequently contacted by birthing families to help them find local doulas. You can benefit from that through our doula request email system. Only doulas who have trained with BirthNBabies can be included!

If you live outside the St. Louis metro area, don't worry! We provide the same level of support for you whenever possible.

Why should you take a DONA International approved birth doula workshop?

DONA International is the leading doula organization worldwide with the mission of A Doula For Every Person Who Wants One!

You will receive the most well-rounded training available, including lots of hands-on practice time for the skills you learn throughout the workshop, the tools to set-up and maintain your doula business (including tax, insurance, and record keeping information), and on-going support from DONA International and BirthNBabies.

Do you have additional skills such as massage therapy, aromatherapy, or essential oils? We discuss how to incorporate these into your doula business.

Are you interested in doing volunteer work with low income or teen moms? We will help you find those moms. While DONA International never requires volunteer work, it is a great way to get experience and provide a wonderful service for a mom who would not otherwise get a doula.

This workshop is for women at least 18-years of age with a desire to assist other women in having a positive birth experience. It is excellent training for those who wish to work as a birth doula or serve as a doula for friends and relatives. It is also appropriate for registered nurses interested in enhancing their labor support techniques using evidence-based practice and for women with the goal of becoming a Nurse or Professional Midwife. This workshop is DONA International approved training. A certificate of completion will be provided. Following this training you are ready to assist women as a doula. Certification is discussed in detail at the workshop, should you choose to certify with DONA International. These additional requirements can be found at www.dona.org

The Intro to Childbirth for Doulas is included in the program and completes the childbirth education requirement for DONA certification. Also included in the 3 day workshop is a 3 hour Breastfeeding class, completing the DONA certification requirement for breastfeeding education.

The workshop takes place on a single weekend including Day 1 (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM), a break for dinner (on your own), and continues evening (6:00 PM - 9:30 PM), Day 2 (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM) and Day 3 (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM). Three or four workshops are offered each year.

Workshops are held in our large, comfortable home located in the Southwest section of the City of Saint Louis in the beautiful Clifton Heights Neighborhood. Map to BirthNBabies Home Classroom

Those attending from outside the St. Louis area may wish to stay at a nearby hotel. There are many excellent restaurants in the area, especially if you enjoy Italian cuisine with The Hill Neighborhood only a block away. Where to Stay

The registration fee includes lunch each day and snacks as well as a training manual binder for note taking and future reference. Registration is limited. Workshops must have a minimum of 6 registrants. All registrations must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to the workshop. Cancellation by BirthNBabies will result in a full refund. Cancellation by registrants at least 10 days prior to the workshop will receive a full refund. Cancellations by registrants less than 10 days prior will receive a refund less $75. There will be no refund offered after the workshop materials have been purchased, 5 days prior to the first day. You will be given the opportunity to attend the next workshop for an additional $150.

Early registration: $450 (ends 3 weeks prior)

$25 off each registration for groups of 2 or more registering together.

Late registration (after early registration ends): $500

Registration closes 1 week prior to workshop or when capacity is reached, whichever comes first. Registrations after this date will be accepted if space is available and with payment by PayPal only.
